What are you worth? Think twice…
Nov 21st
Wow! I just had to go and write about this topic. Pricing! A biggest problem in our industry of Photography – we all know what we are worth or do we? I was just browsing around other fellow shooters and boy was I ever surprised.
I have seen photographers advertising wedding photography services as low as $799 for 2 photographers and with editing services, I mean really? Are you serious? I also checked out there website, this photographers are really good, some OK but most of them have good work in there portfolios. It is so sad to see how low they put there selves out there.
Only 2 major things that make this happen, either they are hurting and not able to market themselves or they just want to be greedy and do the LB (Low Ball) game. Either way it’s is just not healthy for the industry nor for themselves.
I am sure there are a lot of blogs writing about this issue but I just had to voice out my issue. Just now I have seen portrait sessions for $140 with free prints…..WOW! seriously are this GWC’s or are this real pro’s either way it just killing our market and image as well.
We can always say “You get what you pay for”
Manny Pacquiao vs Miguel Cotto
Nov 15th
What a fight! The highly anticipated fight came to Las Vegas November 14, 2009 and I had to make sure I saw this fight. With all the hype HBO has been showing with there24/7 Pacquiao vs Cotto series, I had to make sure I was there for the 12 rounds of pure hard pound for pound boxing and boy did I get my moneys worth!
It was a great fight from round 1 to the last 55 seconds of round 12, from round 1 I was thinking that Cotto did really train hard and was ready for the battle but then everything changed after the 3rd round when Cotto got hit by a hard right hander by PACMAN, that was when I said, this is it, it’s going to be a really messy fight.
After round 3 it was clear that Cotto was not taking in the punches, and he was not throwing the right punches that should have landed. Round 7-Up Cotto started to move around and avoid the PACMAN and we then all knew this wasn’t good, finally round 12 came and down 55 seconds, referee stopped the fight and then PACMAN made history once again.
Overall it was a really good fight, Manny and Miguel did there best and the one that tried harder prevailed, but we all have to give it up to Miguel Cotto for really hanging in there and being a fighter that he really is.
So now it is time to wait for the Mayweather fight! This once again will be a very challenging fight for Manny Pacquiao!
Hard Work Always Pays Off In The End
Nov 3rd
Got home today and had to do some research on a software and was browsing around and came across this article in Yahoo.Com – It was about the UFC 104 which I failed to order via Pay Per View because I fell asleep on a Saturday. (Lame I know)
This article was about the UFC 104 winner Pat Barry or as his paycheck would say….Patrick Barry – This guy was a very hard working athlete, from 0 – 120,000 is what I call it….
A week before the fight he was literally going to happen, he was about to get evicted from his apartment, and with his willingness and his determination, he battled through….(of course hoping that the fight will not ran into any complications and get canceled for any reason)
Did the most logical thing, concentrate, train, work and show up for the fight and the most important part…WIN it!
After winning the UFC 104 tittle, bagged $120,000 cash prize money headed to the bank and cashed it in…..and yes…he did get to keep his apartment.
The full story can be read through Yahoo.Com’s Sports UFC section
I just loved this classic story of pure hard work and determination. In today’s time especially with this bad economy a lot of people are just tied up with different challenges, it’s always this domino effect, when the economy starts heading for the down slope it’s just a chain effect, jobs are lost, cost of living goes up, everything just get’s a little harder to accomplish and that hoping to hit that big break becomes more distant, the mentality of We Live To Work becomes We Work To Live. Times may get rough sometimes, but we always have to think that it’s another challenge we have to face and to face with an attitude of “yes let’s do this”, no matter how tough it can be for us, we always have to remember there is someone out there battling even harder challenges than what we are facing and solutions and options always fall through, the key is just to always push forward, give it your all and always be prepared to fail along the way, it just gives you more reason to push forward even harder and work harder for your goal and as I said………It will…..It will pay off in the end, this Pat Barry just proved it to me, and I hope you read his story. It’s really cool!
Time is our gauge, it’s just a matter of time as we always say it is….
